Myro: Wrath of Nature

This homage to Spyro allowed me to showcase my ability to blend level design, engaging puzzles, and intuitive UI elements with a cohesive narrative, creating a compelling and replayable player experience.

Key Contributions
Regarding the overall game design, each level balances exploration with a challenge, featuring efficiently designed areas, collectibles, and enemies. I focused on crafting puzzles that integrate seamlessly into the gameplay, challenging players while rewarding curiosity and problem-solving. I also focused on designing vibrant levels with layered objectives encouraging exploration and traversal. 

The Level 2 cohort included four weeks of guided lecture classes and an additional week to polish our game. Using this strict deadline, I prioritized gameplay and puzzle quality by leveraging premade assets and focusing on efficient workflows. Balancing the baseline scope of the course with my original design and gameplay decisions was crucial to completing this game. This allowed for rapid prototyping and polished results within tight constraints, displaying my ability to work smart while maintaining high creative standards. 

This was a great learning experience about tying a game’s mechanics and levels to a cohesive narrative, guiding players through the world, and surviving its perils. I incorporated narrative elements into gameplay through NPCs, environmental storytelling, and in-game prompts to provide players with an immersive experience.

Outcomes and Results
Building Myro: Wrath of Nature was an incredible learning experience that allowed me to expand my ability to craft immersive worlds, engaging mechanics, and environmental interactions. It was very gratifying to celebrate the charm of classic 3D platformers while deepening my knowledge of game development.
